On Sunday, when stores are open for business, passengers can ride all buses throughout the city of Wiesbaden for free. This is made possible by a partnership between the Department of Economic Affairs of the State Capital of Wiesbaden and ESWE Verkehr. 

“The city festival, organized by Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH, offers another great opportunity this year to experience the charm of downtown Wiesbaden. With the fall market in the pedestrian zone and on Mauritiusplatz, a Sunday shopping event in the Historic Pentagon, the harvest festival featuring the traditional farmers’ market on Warmer Damm, and numerous culinary and entertainment offerings, there is once again an extremely diverse program. My thanks go to all the Wiesbaden business owners and restaurateurs participating in this year’s City Festival. I hope that many visitors will take this experience as an opportunity to go shopping in downtown Wiesbaden even after the City Festival is over. I am also pleased that ESWE Verkehr is offering visitors free bus rides on the Sunday shopping day and providing an event ticket on the other days,” said Daniela Georgi, ‍Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Sports, and Public Order. 

“We want to inspire even more people to visit the city center in a hassle-free and sustainable way. The free public transit ticket creates an additional incentive to explore the diverse local offerings and actively experience city life,” said Marion Hebding, Managing Director of ESWE Verkehr. 

During the festive season, ESWE Verkehr will—within the limits of available capacity—once again increase service on individual routes and deploy more articulated buses to best meet passengers’ needs. 

To ensure that everyone can enjoy the festivities without worry and without the stress of searching for parking, ESWE Verkehr is once again offering the popular event ticket this year. 

The ticket costs 5.20 euros (adults) or 3.00 euros (children) and entitles the holder to a round-trip ride on public transit throughout fare zone 6500 (Wiesbaden, Mainz, and the surrounding area) on the day of the event. It is valid until 5:00 a.m. the following day or until the end of the last Nightliner trip. 

The event ticket is available wherever tickets are sold: at all advance sales locations, at ticket vending machines, and from drivers. Important: The ticket is only valid if it has been validated for both the outbound and return trips.
