New Youth Services Committee Begins Its Work
The Youth Welfare Committee (JHA) of the state capital of Wiesbaden was reconstituted on Wednesday, September 9. The members elected Bastian Hans, executive director of AWO Wiesbaden, as chair. Andreas Kowol, head of the Social Affairs Department, will serve as vice chair.
The JHA addresses all matters concerning young people and youth services in Wiesbaden. This includes the further development of youth services and their programs, youth service planning, and the promotion of independent youth services and youth organization activities. The committee can also decide on the allocation of funds for youth welfare and submit proposals to the City Council.
“Decisions are made in the Youth Welfare Committee that have very concrete implications for children, adolescents, and families in Wiesbaden. This is where expertise, diverse experiences, and political responsibility come together. Bringing these perspectives together and using them to develop sound decisions for young people in our city is an important task. I am very much looking forward to contributing to this as the head of social services and vice chair,” says Andreas Kowol, head of social services.
The committee brings together representatives from city government, independent youth welfare organizations, and other experts. This ensures that a variety of professional and societal perspectives are incorporated into the deliberations. Over the next five years, the newly formed committee will address current and long-term issues related to child and youth welfare in Wiesbaden.
