All photos shown in the app depict specimens found within the city limits of Wiesbaden. They were collected, photographed, and scientifically identified by Wiesbaden-based mushroom expert Franz Heller. Using filter functions, you can search the findings by mushroom type, color of the gills or tubes, and by classification as edible, inedible, or poisonous.

The database at www.wiesbaden.de/pilze (opens in a new tab) is not a substitute for expert identification. Particular caution is advised, especially with edible mushrooms. Only mushrooms that have been identified beyond a doubt should be consumed. If in doubt, the city strongly advises seeking the advice of a mushroom expert.

Collectors who are unsure can take advantage of the city’s free mushroom consultation service to have their mushrooms identified. Expert Franz Heller will be available for consultation every Monday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Umweltladen, Luisenstraße 19, through Monday, November 9, without prior appointment.
