“With ‘Industry in the City Center,’ we’re showcasing just how diverse and innovative Wiesbaden is as an industrial hub. The initiative brings companies right into the heart of the city, thereby drawing attention to an industry that is of great importance to Wiesbaden. At the same time, it offers companies the opportunity to engage directly with people and promote career opportunities in the industry. This boosts visibility for our companies and for our business community as a whole,” says Daniela Georgi, Head of the Economic Affairs Department. 

The concept behind “Industry in the City Center” is simple: In principle, anyone interested can drop by during opening hours without an appointment and speak with HR representatives. From Tuesday through Friday, the small trade show—which is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—primarily welcomes school groups. The lineup of exhibiting companies changes daily—so it’s worth checking out the website www.wi-work-life.de to plan ahead! All exhibitors are listed there with brief profiles and their on-site hours. 

Saturday, September 26, is geared specifically toward professionals seeking a career change and considering a future in the industry. Seven companies will introduce themselves, provide information on open positions, and offer insights into their day-to-day work. The focus is not just on resumes, but above all on personal interaction. Anyone looking for help with their application materials can take advantage of the application portfolio review offered by Mewa and the Kreussler Group. No registration is required. In addition, practical presentations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will provide valuable information on career and development opportunities in the industry. 

“Industry in the City Center” is a project of the Department of Economic Affairs and Employment as part of the skilled workforce initiative “WI WORK LIFE | Industry.” Through this skilled workforce initiative, we aim to support Wiesbaden’s industrial companies in recruiting skilled workers by offering networking opportunities, events, and exchange formats, while also highlighting the diversity and opportunities within the industry,” said Birgit Knetsch, Head of the Department of Economy and Employment, regarding this economic development measure. 

As part of the “WI WORK LIFE | Industrie” skilled workforce initiative, the “Opportunities Platform” was also launched and further expanded last year. It brings together the various career and training fields as well as opportunities for dual study programs and internships at the participating industrial companies. For current job openings, the platform links directly to the companies’ respective career pages. 

All companies in the manufacturing sector are invited to showcase themselves on the Opportunities Platform. The more companies that participate, the more comprehensive the overview of the diverse job and training opportunities in Wiesbaden’s industrial sector will be.
