City Surveys Residents on “Life in Wiesbaden”
As part of the “Life in Wiesbaden 2026” survey, approximately 14,000 residents selected from a representative sample will be contacted in September to gather their opinions and perceptions of the city.
The survey focuses on various aspects of life in Wiesbaden: How do local residents view their city and their personal circumstances, and how satisfied are they currently with life in the city? What matters to them, and how satisfied are they with what Wiesbaden has to offer? What has changed in recent years? What pressures are residents feeling in the face of increasing climate change—particularly due to intense heat waves—and how is this affecting their health? The survey, which will begin in the coming days, aims to provide answers to these and other questions. Those selected through a representative random sample will receive mail from City Hall. Participation is possible online or, upon request, on paper.
Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende hopes for a high turnout: “Through the ‘Life in Wiesbaden’ survey, citizens provide important, up-to-date information about their opinions, perceptions of problems, and their personal quality of life in Wiesbaden. In doing so, they lay the foundation for citizen-centered and needs-based local policy.”
“This makes it all the more important for the city that as many of the people contacted as possible participate and share their diverse experiences and opinions in order to obtain the most comprehensive picture possible,” adds Maral Koohestanian, Director of Digital Transformation.
Participation in the survey is voluntary. All responses will be evaluated anonymously by the Office for Statistics and Urban Research.
Mayor Mende asks everyone who received a letter to actively participate in the survey and share their opinions. Participating online is the most resource-efficient and easiest option for respondents. Of course, the city also welcomes anyone who fills out and returns a paper questionnaire. Anonymity is guaranteed in all cases.
The results will also be compared with previous surveys to highlight changes and long-term trends. Similar surveys were conducted in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2022. Results from previous surveys, as well as further information on “Life in Wiesbaden,” are available at www.wiesbaden.de/umfragen (opens in a new tab).
