Complete closure of Hagenauer Straße/Alte Schmelze at the A643 highway bridge
As part of the expansion of the A643 to six lanes, the Hagenauer Straße/Alte Schmelze underpass will be rebuilt in two phases.
A complete road closure is necessary to drill into a suspected site under the highway overpass that has been confirmed by the explosive ordnance disposal team.
The closure and construction work will begin on Saturday, October 10, at 8:00 p.m. and continue until Monday, October 12, at 5:00 a.m. The closure also affects pedestrians and cyclists.
The detour for traffic coming from the east runs via Äppelallee, Rheingaustraße, and Saarstraße. For traffic coming from the west, the detour runs via Saarstraße, Rheingaustraße, Äppelallee, and Friedrich-Bergius-Straße and is appropriately signposted. It is recommended to avoid the area entirely.
