Due to irregularities in the local council election in the Northeast district within mail-in voting district 99024 on March 15, 2026, a repeat election was held on September 6, 2026. This was based on a corresponding resolution by the City Council.

The repeat election was organized as a mail-in-only election. The votes were counted on September 6, 2026, by the mail-in election board at City Hall. Of the 712 eligible voters who were contacted, 469 cast their ballots.

Following the count, the preliminary election results for the repeat election in mail-in voting district 99024 were added to the results from the 20 other voting districts in the Northeast local district from the municipal election held on March 15, 2026. According to the preliminary official final results, the distribution of seats among the parties and voter groups on the Northeast Local Council remains unchanged. The elected candidates also remain the same. Changes occur exclusively on the replacement lists: For the CDU, SPD, and FDP, there is a shift within each respective list.
