Storytime Events at Neighborhood Libraries During Fall Break
During the fall break, the Wiesbaden Volunteer Coordinators, in collaboration with the city, Mirko Korder, general manager of the Rhine River Rhinos, and Marvin Haas, a Voice Kids finalist, are hosting two storytime events for children and teens. These events will take place at the Klarenthal and Kastel neighborhood libraries.
The focus will be on one thing above all else: spending time together, listening to stories, and striking up conversations with one another. The reading days are intended to provide children and teens with a welcoming space during school breaks. At the same time, they aim to spark a love of reading and listening and to help participants experience the neighborhood libraries as places of community. Participation is free, and registration is not required.
The Klarenthal neighborhood library will kick off the series on Tuesday, October 6, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. This event is aimed specifically at elementary school children. The children’s book “Das kleine Ich bin Ich” by Mira Lobe will be read aloud. Mirko Korder, general manager of the Rhine River Rhinos, will host the storytime afternoon. In addition to craft activities, there will also be a chance to win free tickets to the Rhine River Rhinos’ upcoming Bundesliga games.
On Wednesday, October 7, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., the event continues at the Mainz-Kastel neighborhood library. The afternoon is geared toward teenagers and will be hosted by Marvin Haas. Haas will read from the book “The Little Prince” and provide musical entertainment.
“Especially during school breaks, children and teens need places where they feel welcome, can get together, and share experiences. We want to create such spaces in the neighborhoods,” explains Ashkan Nekoueian, Commissioner for Civic Engagement for the State Capital of Wiesbaden.
