“Wheels for Europe”: Partnership Trip to Tunbridge Wells and Watford
On Monday, September 14, Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende kicked off the charity ride organized by the “Wheels for Europe” association.
Motorcyclists and drivers from Mainz and Wiesbaden are setting out once again on a trip, this time with Tunbridge Wells and Watford as their destinations. The occasion for this trip is the 70th anniversary of the partnership between Mainz and Watford. Tunbridge Wells is Wiesbaden’s sister city in England and is also on the route. Official receptions hosted by the city governments will be held in both cities. Personal encounters on site are intended to strengthen international understanding.
Mayor Mende said: “It’s wonderful that you continue to nurture these friendships with the United Kingdom and bring the partnerships to life through your trips. Personal encounters and direct exchanges across borders, in particular, are an important symbol of international understanding and of a Europe that is brought to life by its citizens. I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone whose dedication helps to maintain and further develop these connections. This is of inestimable value, especially in today’s world.”
