"Wiesbaden Rheingau" Expands Its Presence in Frankfurt
Through various marketing initiatives, the “Wiesbaden Rheingau” destination will specifically target day-trippers from Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region in 2026.
The focus is on day trips and short stays featuring cultural, culinary, and wine experiences, as well as nature and wellness activities. “The immediate proximity to Frankfurt is a major strength of the ‘Wiesbaden Rheingau’ destination. Day visitors create additional demand for dining, retail, and cultural and recreational offerings, thereby contributing to regional economic growth. The joint marketing campaign brings together the distinct profiles of Wiesbaden and the Rheingau, raising the destination’s profile throughout the Rhine-Main region as a versatile destination for day trips and short stays,” says Daniela Georgi, Wiesbaden’s Director of Economic Affairs.
A key focus is on engaging potential guests on a personal level. From August 28 to 30, “Wiesbaden Rheingau” made its debut with its own booth at the Frankfurt Museumsuferfest. Information about excursions was complemented by a raffle and a potato-stamping activity, inspired by the history of book printing in Eltville.
At the Newcomers Festival on September 19 at Frankfurt’s Römer, the destination provided information on recreational activities to international professionals, expats, and other new residents. In addition, the destination is featured in the “Newcomers Guide 2027” and has two articles in the newsletter, which has approximately 4,000 subscribers.
The Destination was also present at the Rheingau Wine Market from September 2 to 11 on Frankfurt’s Fressgasse. At 29 booths run by Rheingau winemakers, as well as through the Rheingau wine royalty in attendance, raffle tickets were distributed; these led, via a QR code, to a digital raffle featuring experiences in Wiesbaden and the Rheingau. “The strength of our destination lies precisely in the interplay between the city and the region. Visitors coming to us from Frankfurt can combine very different experiences in a very short time—from culture and urban flair in Wiesbaden to wine, cuisine, and nature in the Rheingau. With our joint presence in the Rhine-Main region, we want to raise awareness of this diversity even further and inspire people to rediscover ‘Wiesbaden Rheingau’ time and again,” says Dominik Russler, Managing Director of Rheingau-Taunus Kultur und Tourismus GmbH.
Since March 2026, the destination has been advertised on Ströer’s large-format digital displays at Frankfurt Central Station, and since June, additionally at the regional train station. Clips that change monthly highlight different travel occasions and are aimed at commuters and travelers. “Frankfurt and the entire Rhine-Main region are a particularly important source market for us. Many people can reach Wiesbaden and the Rheingau in a short amount of time—ideal conditions for a day trip or a spontaneous getaway. With our campaign, we aim to be present exactly where potential guests are on the go and showcase the diverse range of possibilities in ‘Wiesbaden Rheingau,’” says Matthias Fromm, Managing Director of Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH.
As part of a partnership with Rhein Main Media, the “Wiesbaden Rheingau Tip of the Month” appears on eight dates in regional daily newspapers with a combined circulation of approximately 116,000 copies. The special publication “A Break from Everyday Life—in ‘Wiesbaden Rheingau,’ It Becomes a Way of Life” reached approximately 668,000 readers in March. This will be followed in November by a two-week native advertising campaign across the digital channels of Frankfurter Neue Presse and Frankfurter Rundschau, supplemented by posts on their Facebook channels and 80,000 guaranteed ad impressions.
