Dyckerhoff, Carl Philipp Jacob
Chemist
Born: 04.09.1854 in Mannheim
died: 06.03.1938 in Wiesbaden
After completing secondary school in Mannheim and his military service, Dyckerhoff studied chemistry at the Technical University in Karlsruhe and the Universities of Bonn and Göttingen, where he was awarded his doctorate.
After his induction at Dyckerhoff & Söhne, he worked for a year and a half as a plant manager in the tar industry in Wolverhampton (England). In 1884, he became a partner in the chemical factory "Lindenhof C. Weyl & Co" and managed the Duisburg branch from 1884 to 1901. In 1901, the company was transformed into a stock corporation, where he was head of the Mannheim headquarters. When the company became part of Rütgerswerke in 1906, Dyckerhoff retired from professional life and moved to Wiesbaden.
From 1910-27, he was active in local politics as a city councillor. In addition to honorary municipal offices and supervisory board positions, he was particularly interested in cultural life; he himself played the cello into old age.
