Dyckerhoff, Harald Paul Eduard

Entrepreneur

Born: 13.09.1912 in Amöneburg

died: 17.12.1993 in Wiesbaden

After leaving school, Dyckerhoff completed an apprenticeship as an export merchant at the company "Rabkow & Co" in Hamburg. Immediately afterwards, he joined Dyckerhoff & Wicking AG in January 1935. He remained associated with the Dyckerhoff company for 49 years in positions of responsibility.

As he was not called up for military service for health reasons, he was solely responsible for the Amöneburg plant during the Second World War. In 1939, he was granted power of attorney and became a deputy member of the Management Board in September 1943. Three years later he was promoted to a full member of the Board of Management, and from 1967-78 he represented the interests of the company as Chairman of the Board of Management of Dyckerhoff AG. His entrepreneurial talent stood him in good stead after the Second World War, when the difficulties of reconstruction demanded a high degree of creativity, organizational talent and creative drive.

He also continued the social commitment that had been established since the company was founded, despite the changed social conditions. He was also committed to modern management with the involvement of the works councils. He was convinced that the company's own needs should be the sole basis for social action. For this reason, he always viewed the Works Constitution Act of 1972 and the Codetermination Act of 1976 with skepticism.

Dyckerhoff moved to the Supervisory Board in June 1978, which he chaired until July 1984. He was then Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Dyckerhoff was President of the Bundesverband Baustoffe - Steine und Erden e.V. from 1964-1981. In this function, he was a member of the Presidium of the Federation of German Industries until 1982. After his retirement, he became an honorary member of the Presidium of Baustoffe - Steine und Erden.
