Honorary citizenship

Honorary citizenship is the city's highest distinction and is awarded to people who have rendered outstanding services to Wiesbaden. The City Council decides on the award. The person appointed an honorary citizen receives a certificate signed by the head of the city council and the Lord Mayor. An entry is also made in the city's Golden Book. Other ways of recognizing deserving personalities are the honorary title of "City Elder" and the award of the Citizens' Medal and the City Plaque in various designs.
