Friends of the Hessian State Orchestra Wiesbaden

The Friends of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden was founded in 2001 to support the work of the Hessisches Staatsorchester Wiesbaden, to provide financial support for the engagement of prominent soloists and conductors for the symphony concerts, to promote the youth work of the State Orchestra, i.e. concerts for children and young people, and to make the State Orchestra and its diverse cultural work better known in Wiesbaden and the surrounding area. These tasks require financial resources, which are raised by the members of the association and by sponsors and with which symphony concerts as well as children's and youth concerts are regularly supported. The association has also supported the composition of new chamber music on several occasions. The association provides targeted support for the acquisition of new instruments.

It also supports the so-called Orchestra Academy, where fully trained young musicians are prepared for their future careers as scholarship holders. They receive regular tuition from mentors from the state orchestra and in return have to perform duties as part of the orchestra's work.

Together with the Wiesbadener Kurier, the sponsoring association has created so-called Kurierständchen. Here, particularly socially committed citizens of Wiesbaden are surprised and honored with a small musical serenade from musicians of the State Orchestra. Members of the association can attend the dress rehearsals for the symphony concerts and the New Year's concerts of the Chamber Music Association free of charge, take part in the orchestra festival held at the end of each season and receive invitations to various cultural exhibitions in Wiesbaden.
