Pfaff, Georg

Metal capsule and staniol manufacturer

Born: 24.11.1835 in Heddernheim (today Frankfurt-Heddernheim)

died: 30.04.1891 in Wiesbaden

In 1860, Pfaff, a trained belt maker and yellow foundryman from Heddernheim, applied for temporary residence in Wiesbaden, which was granted as he had assets of 1,000 fl. due to an inheritance.

On March 1, 1867, he took a job as a foreman at the Wiesbaden tinfoil and metal capsule factory A. Flach, which was founded in 1860. After five years, Pfaff set up his own business in Platter Strasse with a workshop for the manufacture of metal capsules, later known as the Georg Pfaff metal capsule and tin foil factory, which soon employed 20 people. As the company continued to grow rapidly, it became necessary to move to a spacious new factory building on Dotzheimer Straße as early as 1875. Together with his son-in-law Friedrich Dorer, Pfaff transformed his company into a general partnership on May 16, 1884, thus preparing for his succession. In 1886, the company founder retired from the management.
