Regerchor-International
The Regerchor-International, a project choir that focuses in particular on the works of Max Reger, has been in existence since 1985. Reger lived in Wiesbaden from 1890-98 and belonged to the St. Bonifatius parish. The choir was founded on October 16, 1985.
On this day, Gabriel Dessauer, cantor and organist of St. Boniface Catholic Church, conducted Max Reger's Hebbel Requiem op. 144b in the Marktkirche. The Munich organist and composer Max Beckschäfer sat at the Walcker organ, on which Reger himself had already played. The concert was part of the concert series "International Organ Concerts Wiesbaden".
In 2001, the choir was expanded through cooperation with the choir of St. Salvator's Cathedral in Bruges (Belgium) to become the "Reger-Chor-International". Gabriel Dessauer and the choirmaster and organist Ignace Michiels give an annual joint concert of sacred music for choir and organ, usually in Wiesbaden and Bruges.
The Reger Choir (International) celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010.
