Profile of the Parks Department

What do parks, community gardens, playgrounds, and cemeteries have in common? They bring a piece of nature right into the heart of the city!

Wiesbaden is characterized by extensive green spaces, a wealth of street trees, and a recreational forest that is deeply intertwined with the built-up urban areas. Preserving, maintaining, and restoring these areas—often referred to as a city’s “green lungs”—or adapting them to changing needs, as well as promoting agriculture within the urban area, are the diverse responsibilities of the Parks and Recreation Department.
