The local courts are auxiliary judicial authorities. They are under the supervisory authority of the president of the district court. Their organizational management is the responsibility of the legal department of the state capital of Wiesbaden. 

The local courts have the following responsibilities, among others:

• Certification of signatures
• Certification of transcripts and copies of public or private documents (original documents)
• PLEASE NOTE: For the certification of German civil status documents, please contact the relevant registry office.
• Estimating the value of real estate
