The local courts are auxiliary authorities of the judiciary. They are under the supervision of the President of the Local Court. Their organizational supervision is the responsibility of the Legal Office of the State Capital of Wiesbaden.

The local courts have the following tasks, among others:

• Certification of signatures
• Certification of copies and duplicates of public or private documents (original documents)
• ATTENTION: For the certification of German civil status documents, please contact the relevant registry office.
• Estimates of the value of real estate

The 13 local courts established in the city area are each responsible for individual city districts.
