The local courts are auxiliary judicial authorities. They are subject to the administrative supervision of the president of the district court. The Legal Department of the State Capital of Wiesbaden is responsible for their organizational oversight. 

The local courts have the following responsibilities, among others:

• Certification of signatures
• Certification of copies of public or private documents (original documents)
• PLEASE NOTE: For the certification of German civil status records, please contact the relevant civil registry office.
• Estimating the value of real estate

The 13 local courts established within the city limits are each responsible for individual city districts.
