Board of Appeal

Note: The following provisions apply only to appeals received by February 11, 2026. For appeals received after that date, no hearing will be held before the Appeals Committee.

Anyone who has received an administrative decision from the City Council or the Mayor may file an appeal against it. Individuals who have filed an appeal may present their arguments to the Appeals Committee. The Appeals Committee discusses the arguments with the parties concerned as well as with experts from the relevant departments. The goal is to reach an amicable settlement. If no agreement is reached, the Committee issues a recommendation on how the appeal should be decided.

The Appeals Committee is an independent body of the State Capital of Wiesbaden. It consists of three members. The chairs are the legal advisors of the Legal Department. The two members are elected by the City Council.

Anyone who has filed an appeal will receive an invitation to the Appeals Committee meeting. No invitation is sent to those who have expressly waived their right to a hearing. In some cases, the law also stipulates that no hearing is required. The invitation is sent by the Appeals Committee’s office within the Legal Department. The office also answers questions regarding the Appeals Committee.
