City pigeon project
One aim of the measures for the animal welfare-oriented population control of urban pigeons (birth control concept) is the harmonious coexistence of humans with pigeons in the state capital of Wiesbaden. The prerequisite for this is precise knowledge of the biology and behavior of the urban pigeon in its urban habitat. In Wiesbaden, city pigeons are housed in supervised pigeon lofts and their eggs are replaced with dummies. This reduces the pigeon population in the long term.
The feeding of urban and wild pigeons is not permitted on public roads and public facilities and their installations in the area of the state capital of Wiesbaden in accordance with Section 8 of the Danger Prevention Ordinance.
