Counseling on HIV Infection, AIDS, and Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases

The Public Health Department provides information on sexually transmitted diseases. We conduct blood tests to rule out hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, and AIDS (HIV).

When can an infection be ruled out with a high degree of certainty through serological testing following high-risk exposure:

HIV: 6 weeks;
Hepatitis B: 3–6 months;
Syphilis: 10 weeks
; Hepatitis C: 6–7 months

It is often advisable to get tested sooner, as an infection is possible even without symptoms and may be detectable in the blood. Seek advice!

Condoms protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
