Bear Heart Foundation
The Bärenherz Foundation is a supporting foundation under private law that relies on donations and endowments to fulfill its statutory purpose. Approximately 1.8 million euros are currently distributed each year for the existing facilities, which are only partly financed by care rates, and this figure is rising.
The Bärenherz Foundation supports facilities for families with children who are terminally ill and have a short life expectancy, in particular children's hospices.
Currently, these are the children's hospices in Wiesbaden, Markkleeberg near Leipzig and the Bärenherz children's home in Heidenrod-Laufenselden in the Rheingau-Taunus district, a long-term care facility for 27 severely disabled and ill children, adolescents and young adults.
"Bärenherz has given us back a bit of quality of life ...", a nice summary of the work at the Bärenherz Wiesbaden children's hospice. It is the statement of an affected mother that sums up exactly what a children's hospice wants to be: a shelter that provides protection, security and safety for families whose child has a life-shortening and incurable illness. Here they find advice, qualified care, loving support, relief and comfort, from the diagnosis to the death of the child and beyond.
