Vibrant city center

Boules court on Luisenplatz starts the new season

The boules court on Luisenplatz has reopened after the winter break: Both lanes can now be played on free of charge. The accompanying rental services - the Zuko box with mobile chairs and the sports box with boules balls - are also available free of charge as usual.

Opening of the boules court season

The boules court opened last fall and has since become a popular gathering spot right in the heart of downtown.

In collaboration with the La Pétanque d’Auringen e.V. association, an accessible recreational activity has been created that is open to everyone: experienced boules players as well as beginners who simply want to give the game a try. No prior experience is required—anyone can drop by spontaneously and join in.

The boules court is located right next to the Waterloo Monument on Luisenplatz and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those who don’t have their own boules can easily rent sets via the Sportbox app. Additionally, the Zuko-Box offers up to twelve portable chairs, which can also be used free of charge via the app. This makes the court not only a place to play but also a place to linger.

Working together for a vibrant city center

With the reopening, a project is being continued that already proved to be a boon for Luisenplatz last year. The successful collaboration between citizens, the local council, and the city administration demonstrates how important civic engagement is for a vibrant downtown. Together, they are creating gathering places that strengthen community bonds and revitalize Wiesbaden’s downtown.

Accompanying activities are also planned for the coming season, including special offerings such as “Boules for Beginners.” Information regarding specific dates and details will be provided separately; notices will also be posted directly at the boules court in a timely manner. The state capital of Wiesbaden invites all interested parties to make active use of the boules court once again.

We want to further revitalize Luisenplatz and strengthen the city centre as an attractive place to stay, meet and spend leisure time. Boules combines exercise with sociability and creates an open meeting place for people of all generations.

Mayor Christiane Hinninger

The project was initiated and coordinated by City Management and implemented in cooperation with the La Pétanque d’Auringen e.V. association and the Parks and Recreation Department. City Management is responsible for maintaining the boules court. All users are responsible for keeping the facility clean and well-maintained.
