Mauritiusplatz is a central and important location for a vibrant downtown Wiesbaden. For several years now, the summer market has been held here during the summer months. It helps make the square an attractive venue, draws people to the downtown area, and enhances the quality of the experience for visitors.
The current management contract ends this year. This means a new contract must be awarded for the future use and management of the square. For future planning, the city of Wiesbaden wants to take a close look at what has proven successful and what wishes and ideas local residents have.
As part of a public engagement process, the upcoming reorientation will incorporate a wide range of perspectives, experiences, wishes, and suggestions from the public—including retailers and restaurant owners, downtown residents, visitors, and users.

- Online Survey: Until September 17, 2026, anyone interested can take part in an online survey (opens in a new tab) and share their opinions, wishes, and suggestions.
- On-site participation: On Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the “Summer Market/Mauritiusplatz” information booth will be set up at the corner of Kirchgasse and Schulgasse. There, interested residents can directly share their opinions, wishes, and suggestions regarding the future direction of the summer market.

Public Participation as Part of a Multi-Stage Process
Public participation is a key component of the process leading up to the re-award. The goal is a transparent and accountable process that incorporates diverse perspectives and interests.
In early September, a workshop will also be held with the city administration and the relevant departments. Another workshop is scheduled for late September with political representatives from the various political parties, the local advisory board, and other downtown stakeholders. The different perspectives and findings will then be synthesized and incorporated into the plan for the reallocation of the summer market.
