What is the climate box?
A special place to take a deep breath, cool down and find out more has been created on Kochbrunnenplatz: the climate box. This is a walk-in experience space that raises awareness of climate issues in a vivid way and makes heat resilience tangible. At the same time, it is intended to increase the quality of stay in the city center.
The temporary installation on around 35 square meters provides a green oasis for pleasant cooling in the hot summer months. A variety of climate-friendly plants, a shady awning, seating and a spray mist system create a place of relaxation in the middle of the urban space.
The installation is complemented by four information boards that convey key aspects of climate adaptation. An accompanying survey invites visitors to contribute their opinions.
The climate box is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Kochbrunnenplatz and will remain there until the end of September. In summer 2026, it will be used again at a new location in Wiesbaden.
