Gynecological practice Dr. Nina Ewald-Riegler

I run a private gynecological practice. In addition to the regular duties of a specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics, we specialize in menopausal complaints. My team and I attach great importance to individual treatment and respectful treatment with sufficient time for consultation in a welcoming atmosphere.

What drives you? What is your motto?

"They did not know it was impossible, so they did it" (M. Twain). Or: Have courage!

What is your foundation about and what is special about it?

We cover the broad spectrum of gynecology and obstetrics. What is special is that our core topic is the menopause.

We offer advice, individual therapy and targeted treatment for pelvic floor weakness, vaginal dryness or incontinence problems and much more. We take our time. Hence the decision to have a private practice where everyone is welcome.

What are your first successes?

Since opening, my team and I have been delighted every day with the friendly feedback from many patients who feel comfortable with us and praise the competence and warmth of all our staff. We hadn't dared to hope for that.

What is your professional background?

I studied human medicine in Mainz (New York City, Paris and Mumbai). I completed my specialist training in Wiesbaden with Prof. Dr. med. A. du Bois and Priv. Doz. Dr. med. M. Gonser. After starting a family, I worked in the gynecological practice of Dr. Sheila de Liz.

What prompted you to start your own business?

After working in Dr. Sheila de Liz's gynaecological practice for a few years, she closed down, which came as a surprise to me. I was therefore faced with the question of whether to join another practice or take the plunge into self-employment. I had very clear ideas about the ideal practice - so I quickly set up one myself.

Who advised you, who are your helpers and mentors?

My team threw themselves into the work with enthusiasm and helped shape our ideal gynecological practice. I couldn't have done it without them. And of course my family! They advised me, supported me and worked with full commitment. This is a real family project.

How did you experience the first few days as the founder?

Being greeted by staff and the first patients on the opening morning and being welcomed with flowers was unforgettable. We had a surprising amount of work to do, which we mastered with professionalism, team spirit and a sense of humor due to a lack of routine. We will retain this working attitude.

What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

Unfortunately, the rooms in our dream property were not registered as a practice. A time-consuming building application with a long waiting period really got on our nerves. But it was worth it. The beautiful villa welcomes us anew every day with its spacious rooms and romantic garden.

How do you draw attention to your practice? What is your best marketing idea?

We are happy about our event format: Ladies' Lounge. After-work evenings with talks, readings, music and infotainment. It should always be about "women's issues". This can concern health, but also questions about raising children, partnership and more. We are happy to receive ideas!

How did you finance your start-up?

I designed a presentation, asked for quotes and did the financial planning. I used this to present myself to banks. The presentation convinced me first and then them.

What dream do you still want to realize?

I'm right in the middle of it! A beautiful place with high-quality medicine and space for culture - like the salons of the past. Health affects body and mind.

Please complete the following sentence: If I had more time, I would...

I would have needed more time before. Everything is fine now.

What is your special tip: What would you recommend to founders?

Visualize your project. If you feel at home with your idea and it would be unbearable not to be allowed to "move in" - get started!
