Gynecological practice Dr. Nina Ewald-Riegler

I run a private gynecological practice. In addition to the regular duties of a specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics, we specialize in complaints relating to the menopause. Our team attaches great importance to individual treatment and respectful treatment and advice in a welcoming atmosphere.

What drives you? What is your motto?
"They didn't know it was impossible, so they did it" (M. Twain). Or: Take courage!

What is your start-up about and what makes it special?
We cover the entire spectrum of gynecology and obstetrics. What makes us special is that our core focus is on menopause.

We offer counseling, individual therapy, and targeted treatment for pelvic floor weakness, vaginal dryness, incontinence, and much more. We take our time with each patient. That's why we decided to set up a private practice where everyone is welcome.

What are your first successes?

Since opening, my team and I have been delighted every day by the friendly feedback from many patients who feel comfortable with us and praise the competence and warmth of all our staff. We hadn't dared to hope for that.

What is your professional background?
I studied medicine in Mainz (New York City, Paris, and Mumbai). I completed my specialist training in Wiesbaden under Prof. Dr. med. A. du Bois and Priv. Doz. Dr. med. M. Gonser. After starting a family, I worked in the gynecology practice of Dr. med. Sheila de Liz.

What prompted you to start your own business?
After working for several years in Dr. Sheila de Liz's gynecology practice, she closed it, which came as a surprise to me. I was then faced with the question of whether to take a job at another practice or take the plunge into self-employment. I had very specific ideas about the ideal practice, so I decided to start my own.

Who advised you, who are your helpers and mentors?
My team threw themselves into the work with enthusiasm and helped shape our ideal gynecology practice. I couldn't have done it without them. And of course my family! They advised me, supported me, and worked hard alongside me. It's a real family project.

How did you experience your first days as a founder? Being greeted by employees and
first patients on the morning of the opening and receiving flowers was unforgettable. We had a surprising amount to do, which we mastered with professionalism, team spirit, and a sense of humor despite our lack of routine. We maintain this work ethic.

What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
Unfortunately, the rooms in our dream property were not registered as a practice. A complex building application with a long waiting time really tested our nerves. But it was worth it. The pretty villa welcomes us every day with its spacious rooms and romantic garden.

How do you draw attention to your practice? What is your best marketing idea?
We are excited about our event format: Ladies' Lounge. After-work evenings with lectures, readings, music, and "infotainment." The focus is always on "women's issues." This can be about health, but also questions about raising children, relationships, and more. We welcome ideas!

How did you finance your start-up?
I put together a presentation, obtained quotes, and did the financial planning. I then presented this to banks. The presentation convinced me first, and then them.

What dream would you still like to realize?
I'm right in the middle of it! A beautiful place with high-quality medicine and space for culture—like in the salons of old. Health affects both body and mind.

Please complete the following sentence: If I had more time, I would... I needed
more time before. Now everything is fine.

What is your special tip: What would you recommend to founders?
Visualize your project. If you feel at home with your idea and it would be unbearable not to be allowed to "move in"—get started!
