Free Wi-Fi in Wiesbaden

Free Wi-Fi with no time limit: in Wiesbaden, the expansion of the free and unlimited Wi-Fi service has been completed. All 15 access points are connected to the local fibre-optic network. The high number of users since the gradual launch of the network in October 2018 is a clear sign of acceptance.

Wall GmbH completes the Wi-Fi network in Wiesbaden by handing over the last hotspot that has been developed. This means that all 15 access points that were upgraded as part of the modernisation measures are now connected to the high-speed fibre-optic network of Wiesbadener Informations- und Telekommunikations GmbH (WiTCOM). For both residents and visitors, the best quality for surfing, chatting, and getting information is available free of charge and without limit. Wiesbaden is thus expanding its digital infrastructure and taking advantage of the digital development towards a Smart City.

Tourists and citizens benefit

Free Wi-Fi in the city centre will be of benefit to both the many tourists who wish to find their way around the city and are looking for the nearest bus stop or restaurant, for instance, and the citizens who more than ever rely on fast internet in their everyday lives. Andreas Kowol, head of the Department of Environment, Green Areas and Transport, is particularly pleased that a request from the Youth Parliament and a resolution passed by the City Council have now been implemented.

Wi-Fi is part of an increasingly digital urban infrastructure

Free and unlimited Wi-Fi is part of an increasingly digital urban infrastructure. As a network operator for the region, WiTCOM is pleased to be involved in the digitisation in Wiesbaden and thus its transition to a Smart City. Connecting the Wi-Fi network and its hotspots to the highly available network, it provides the backbone for a modern communications infrastructure and contributes to digital transformation.
