The literature prize for students in grades nine to 13 at Wiesbaden schools is awarded every two years. A self-written prose text, a short story or an essay can be submitted for the competition. The text should demonstrate a confident, sensitive and creative use of the German language. A topic is not specified. The text should not exceed five pages. The prize is endowed with 500 euros as well as a recognition prize for the runner-up.

The award ceremony always takes place in November at the Literaturhaus. The winners are only announced at the award ceremony. In addition to the awarding of the prize by the Head of Cultural Affairs, the two winning texts are read by an actor or actress.
