New German Films (4): The best German film of the year. So far." (edp Film)

A thriller about personal feelings in political dimensions. The film gradually reveals the finely interwoven lives of its characters. More and more secrets are uncovered until everything fits together like a puzzle to form a multi-layered overall picture.

Written and directed by Angelina Maccarone ("Persecuted", "The Look - Charlotte Rampling"), with a top-class cast including Barbara Sukowa ("Hannah Arendt", "Dalíland") as Mathilda, Lambert Wilson ("Matrix Resurrections", "La Boum 2") in the role of artist Richard, newcomer Habib Adda as Malik and Banafshe Hourmazdi ("Loving Her", "Futur Drei") as Mathilda's assistant Amina.

The artist Richard can no longer afford his British homeland and lives in Tangier. With his help, the young Moroccan Malik makes it to Europe, the place he longs for. There, the conservative politician Mathilda, of all people, is supposed to hide him. Mathilda's assistant, the lawyer Amina, is brought in as a "cultural mediator" to solve the problem. But Malik has his own plans. Left to his own devices, he inadvertently sets off an avalanche.
