Hessian Documentary Film Day - The Möllner Letters
On the occasion of the Hessian Documentary Film Day, the film "The Mölln Letters" about the racist arson attack in Mölln in November 1992 will be shown at the Murnau Filmtheater on September 26. This will be followed by a film discussion with director Martina Priessner and Wolfgang Kunath (Amnesty International).
In November 1992, the racist arson attack in Mölln destroyed the lives of İbrahim Arslan and his family. The then seven-year-old İbrahim survived, but lost his sister, cousin and grandmother. The town of Mölln received hundreds of letters of solidarity, which went unnoticed for almost three decades. The film accompanies İbrahim as he discovers these letters and meets three of their authors. At the same time, it creates an impressive portrait of the ongoing trauma that continues to affect İbrahim and his siblings to this day. The film makes the forgotten solidarity visible and builds a bridge between past and present.
In cooperation with Amnesty International Wiesbaden and Omas gegen Rechts Wiesbaden and Amnesty International Frankfurt. The tour is supported by the Heinrich Böll Foundation Hesse. The discussion in Wiesbaden will be moderated by Wolfgang Kunath (Amnesty International), in Frankfurt by Yağmur Ekim Çay (taz).
