Every month, visitors to the "sam - Stadtmuseum am Markt" choose their favorite item from the collections at a multimedia station. In November, the choice fell on a Mainzelmännchen mug.

The popular cartoon characters from ZDF can now be found on many products. This mug from the 1980s is no exception. It came into the collection of the city museum as a purchase.
Even though the name of the figures refers to the city of Mainz, the short spots have been produced in Wiesbaden by "Neue Film Produktion" since 1963. They are still produced frame by frame with a pencil before the computer takes over the coloring.
