Every month, visitors to "sam – Stadtmuseum am Markt" vote for their favorite item from the collections at a multimedia station. In June 2026, the choice fell on a radio.

The Braun T 1000 CD was designed by Dieter Rams. The Wiesbaden-born designer was head of the design department at Braun.
This transistor radio is the successor to the T 1000. Between 1968 and 1970, 13,981 units were produced. The retail price of the device at the time was 1,500 DM. Production was discontinued for cost reasons.
The device was particularly well-suited for receiving shortwave broadcasts. Since these signals can travel around the world from a single transmitter, the device is also known as a “world receiver.”
