Man and woman in black clothes
The duo will be giving a concert at the Church of St. Augustine of Canterbury on September 27.

Sometimes you know each other for years without realizing how much you actually have in common. In other cases, however, things happen very quickly - as in the case of Corinne Brill and Carsten Braun, who met at a Christmas concert in December 2024 and knew two emails later that they both shared a great passion not only for classical music, but also for the electro/gothic formation "Deine Lakaien".

The composer and the singer decided to form a duo that would move between the poles of art song and acoustic darkwave. Their program mainly contains pieces penned by Carsten Braun, in which classical, folk, rock and musical are fused into an individual alloy. Most closely related to the acoustic albums of "Deine Lakaien" and Maury Yeston's "December Songs", but with an unmistakable personal style. Elegant melodies, playful piano figures, colorful harmonies and rhythmic finesse are the main ingredients of his poetry settings. The songs are congenially performed by soprano Corinne Brill, whose expressive, warm and agile voice brings every nuance of the demanding material to life. Blessed with a great range and a natural, spontaneous understanding of Braun's musical vision, she is the ideal front woman for a duo that sometimes sounds as if it were the acoustic version of an electro or rock formation, without ever having been either.

Look forward to songs about sadness, loss, loneliness and death, garnished with a pinch of pathos, humor and social criticism!
