KIES
Portrait
With pure power, KIES celebrates the forefathers of punk (Stranglers, Ramones, Clash) and their companions (Stones, Bowie, Kinks). What more do you need than three chords, fast songs for the singer, a wooden box for the drummer and a few powerful instruments? No band covers as unusually as KIES.
Hey Ho! Let's go!
The sound of KIES is loud and handmade. Cult songs to bawl along to, fast, really fast - and only one ballad. No embellishments, no booze, just hard-hitting songs from the days when music was still played on Com-pact cassettes. It brings back memories of the bands of the late seventies and early eighties, from the Sex Pistols to The Clash, from the Ramones to Iggy Pop.
Singer Kai "Kies" Stulz scrubs his guitar and shouts "I Wanna Be Your Dog". Drummer Paul Maré sits on a simple wooden box and nails the beat. You are amazed at the powerful rhythms he gets out of the cajon. Bassist Tommes Bock provides the fat tones. On the keys, Alex Cherd-ron chases his merciless runs up and down. And the power of the lead guitar comes from Clemens Loos, every chord bangs and every riff bites its way through to the listener.
KIES is a very special kind of cover band: original punk rock, garage and rock'n'roll from the late 70s and early 80s. Let's keep the spirit of punk rock alive and share it with everyone. Hey Ho! Let's go!
