Brief description:
Since 2022, the "Superblock Initiative in the Rheingau Quarter" has been campaigning for a residential area free of through traffic. In consultation with experts from the scientific community, in dialogue with the administration, and together with young and older residents, businesses in the neighborhood, and civil society actors from the fields of culture, education, and the environment, they are testing and negotiating what a sustainable, climate-resilient distribution of space in urban areas could look like, one that is primarily and above all oriented toward people. The experiences will be incorporated into the planned permanent redesign, the first superblock in Hesse.
Dates/period:
Starting in April: temporary activities and events on site in the Rheingauviertel neighborhood, including "Breakfast on the Street," pizza baking together in a homemade community oven, tours on the history of the Rheingauviertel neighborhood, activities with and for children, and an exhibition in public space.
Starting in May: Guest appearance at the WDC project "Verhandeln und Verwandeln" (Negotiate and Transform) in the former sports arena in the pedestrian zone.
