George Gershwin – "S'Wonderful"

The concert, part of the "Tarbut—Time for Jewish Culture" cultural series and featuring Sand Art by Natalia Moro, will be held on Sunday, November 22, at 5 p.m. at the Kulturforum as a tribute to George Gershwin.

George Gershwin – “S’Wonderful”

"S’Wonderful" is a tribute to George Gershwin and his distinctive musical world. The composer, pianist, and co-founder of a unique American musical style blended jazz, classical music, and Broadway like no other, creating a sound that continues to inspire today.

As famous melodies such as “Rhapsody in Blue” and “I Got Rhythm” fill the air, sand artist Natalia Moro creates striking images that constantly shift and tell stories. Before the audience’s eyes, fleeting traces of sand give rise to scenes from Gershwin’s life, his era, and his music. Just as quickly as they appear, they vanish again, making way for new images.

The musical and narrative elements designed by Volker Mertens enter into a lively dialogue with Natalia Moro’s sand images. Julia Vaisberg’s sensitive piano playing lends the Gershwin program a special atmosphere. In close harmony with the sand images being created live, a fascinating interplay of music and imagery unfolds, in which sounds and visual impressions complement and enhance one another.

The result is an evening full of rhythm, lightness, and creative energy that impressively conveys the joy of life, optimism, and cultural diversity of Gershwin’s music, taking the audience on a journey that is as entertaining as it is atmospheric.
