Cultural exchange with partner cities

Resolution recommendation for the Committee for Schools, Culture and Town Twinning on 08.05.2025

According to its own information (on wiesbaden.de), the state capital of Wiesbaden maintains "18 international partnerships. Cultural exchange between the municipalities plays a particularly important role in these relationships." In order to focus more on this than before, the Cultural Advisory Board would like to gather a lot of information and use this as a basis for providing impetus to promote and expand cultural exchange.

The Cultural Advisory Board recommends that the Committee for Schools, Culture and Town Twinning adopt the following resolution:

The municipal council is requested to report to the Cultural Advisory Board - for the period since the "Year of Town Twinning" (2016) - on
on the following points:

  • With how many / which of the 18 partner municipalities have cultural encounters taken place?
  • What role did the existing twinning associations play?
  • Which other associations / cultural associations and initiatives / cultural institutions and individuals were involved?
  • Which sectors of the cultural spectrum were represented?
  • Which Wiesbaden exhibition and performance venues were involved?
  • To what extent was funding available specifically for cultural exchange with the partner cities and to what extent was it called up or utilized?
  • Is the city's "funding program for intercultural projects" also intended for cultural exchange with partner cities? If so, how many applications were submitted for 2025 by the end of March?
  • Does the Cultural Office or the Partnership Relations Department of the Main Office have a data network that associations / initiatives / individuals can access in order to establish cultural contacts in partner cities?
  • How many Wiesbaden schools maintain school partnerships with schools in one of the twin cities? What role does the area of "cultural education" play in this?
  • What results has the state capital of Wiesbaden achieved by joining the "Cities of Europe" network?
