Election touchstones

The Cultural Advisory Board will be newly elected by June 23

Access data for the election can be requested from May 27

The Wiesbaden Cultural Advisory Board will be elected through an online vote. From May 27 through June 23 at 4:00 p.m., Wiesbaden residents can vote for the 13 cultural professionals to be elected to the 25-member cultural policy committee.

Who can vote?

All citizens registered as having their primary residence in Wiesbaden who have reached the age of 16 by the cutoff date for compiling the voter registry on May 26 are eligible to vote.

How and where can I vote?

Starting May 27, eligible voters can request login credentials for the Cultural Advisory Board’s online election through the OLIWA application portal of the State Capital of Wiesbaden. Alternatively, the request can be sent by email to wahlenwiesbadende or in writing to the Wiesbaden Election Office, Friedrichstraße 16, 65185 Wiesbaden. In all cases, you must provide your last name, first name, date of birth, registered address, and, if applicable, an alternative mailing address. This is the only way to verify your eligibility to vote.

If your application is approved, you will receive a letter with login credentials at your registered address (or an alternative address provided). The letter will explain how and where you can cast your votes.

You must cast your votes online by 4:00 p.m. on June 23 at the latest. The Cultural Advisory Board election will be tallied immediately thereafter.

Since timely delivery of the documents by mail cannot be guaranteed after June 18, it will no longer be possible to apply via the online application. You can pick up the login credentials in person from June 18 to 23, 2026, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Election Office, Friedrichstraße 16, as well as at the local administrative offices during their respective opening hours. Citizens who have no or limited access to the internet can cast their vote in person at the locations mentioned during the specified times.

Who is elected?

The Cultural Advisory Board consists of 25 members. Twelve of them are appointed by selected institutions and the City Council. Thirteen members are directly elected cultural professionals with ties to Wiesbaden. You can vote for these 13 members in the Cultural Advisory Board election, which takes place every four years. In this year’s election, 42 candidates are running in various cultural fields.

In each of the seven cultural sectors, the person who receives the most votes is selected. The remaining six seats are awarded to the candidates not affiliated with a specific sector who received the highest share of the vote.

You can find out more about the candidates on the Cultural Advisory Board’s website. On May 30, the candidates will introduce themselves in person from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at “WerkRaum”—a temporary space in the former SportScheck building at Langgasse 5-9. You can also find all the information about this event on the Cultural Advisory Board’s website.
