Updating the cultural development plan
After four years, an evaluation of the implementation of the 2020 cultural development plan was carried out and the cultural policy priorities and measures were reprioritized. The process of updating and its results are documented here.
When the Cultural Development Plan (CDP) was adopted, it was already decided that it would be updated on an ongoing basis. This reflects the fact that a cultural development plan is not a static entity, but rather a dynamic concept. It is open to change and must adapt to new situations and challenges.
By 2024, the implementation of the measures prioritized at the time for the short and medium term—with a time horizon of approximately five years—was foreseeable. The implementation of the KEP up to that point is documented in the annual reports of the Cultural Affairs Office: Of the 120 cultural development measures, 41 had been implemented or permanently established, and another 30 were in progress.
The participatory process for the evaluation and update also focused on dialogue with representatives of Wiesbaden’s cultural landscape, particularly members of the independent arts scene. The Cultural Advisory Board closely monitored the KEP update.
Unsurprisingly, the central topics of the 2019/20 planning process also shaped the debates surrounding the CDP update:
- Cultural promotion and funding
- Cultural participation
- Spaces for culture
- Visibility.
The results of these were brought together in an updated catalog of measures. In accordance with the resolution of the City Council, these measures form the basis of the guidelines for further cultural development and are to be prioritized.
The updated measures for cultural development in detail, the documentation of the work process and the final report can be found in the PDF document on the update of the cultural development plan.
