50 years of the Carol Nachman Prize

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the awarding of the Carol Nachman Prize for Rheumatology on June 24, 2022, prize winners, former prize winners and members of the Board of Trustees signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden at City Hall.

The Carol Nachman Prize of the State Capital of Wiesbaden for Rheumatology was first awarded in 1972 and, with prize money of 37,500 euros, is the world's most highly endowed prize in the field of rheumatology.

This year, the prize goes in equal parts to the Italian scientist and physician Professor Dr. Maria-Antonietta D'Agostino from Italy and her Dutch colleague Professor Dr. Maarten Boers. In addition, Dieter Wiek from Hünxe and posthumously Professor Dr. Reinhold E. Schmidt from Iserhagen were honored with the Carol Nachman Medal for their life's work.
