City Archive Wiesbaden

The Wiesbaden City Archive is the municipal archive of the state capital of Wiesbaden and, as a department of the Cultural Office, fulfills the task of preserving Wiesbaden's historical heritage, making it accessible and communicating it comprehensively.

Use of the reading room and accessibility of the city archive

Extensive construction work is currently taking place at the Wiesbaden City Archive, which should significantly improve working and usage conditions from 2026. The construction measures and staff shortages will have an impact on service operations. For the time being, visits to the reading room of the Wiesbaden City Archive will only be possible by booking an appointment in advance. This must be done at least one week in advance. A place in the reading room can be reserved by e-mail to lesesaal.stadtarchivwiesbadende or by telephone on 0611/313022 (opens in a new tab).

The reading room is open until December 18, 2025 as follows

  • Tuesdays: 9 am to 4 pm
  • Wednesdays: 9 am to 6 pm
  • Thursdays: 12 to 4 p.m.

The reading room is closed on Mondays and Fridays. The city archive will be closed from Monday, December 22, 2025, to Sunday, January 4, 2026. The first regular opening day in the new year is Monday, January 5.
