Media development plan for Wiesbaden schools (MEP)

The media development plan represents an overall concept for a modern media infrastructure.

In September 2022, the state capital of Wiesbaden adopted the Media Development Plan for the years 2022 to 2025 (MEP 3.0). This ensures that the successful work of MEP 1.0 and 2.0 can be continued.

Digitalization is rapidly and permanently transforming learning in schools—it is clear that the world will become a digital and multimedia-driven place. Schools must prepare their students for this and equip them with the necessary media literacy. Creating the conditions for this requires more than the methods and tools used to date. New initiatives are needed. The school authority intends to further intensify its efforts in the area of learning with digital media in partnership with the State of Hesse over the next few years.

In doing so, the state capital of Wiesbaden is making an important contribution to the implementation of the KMK strategy (Conference of Ministers of Education – Education in the Digital World).

Through the consistent implementation of this Media Development Plan (MEP 3.0), Wiesbaden’s schools will have fully networked facilities and modern IT equipment. A comprehensive maintenance and support concept provided by the Wiesbaden Media Center helps ensure that teachers can focus on their educational work. The MEP provides planning security.

In close collaboration between school authorities, the Media Center, the Media Education Advisory Service at the State School Authority, and representatives of the various school types, standards were formulated based on school media education concepts that integrate pedagogical and technical requirements into systematic equipment concepts.

The Media Development Plan 4.0 is currently in the conceptual phase. This page will be updated as soon as new information becomes available.
