School authority

The School Board of the State Capital of Wiesbaden is not responsible for:

  • supervising the operations and academic standards of schools;
  • the provision of teachers;
  • matters related to so-called “internal school operations,” i.e., everything related to instruction and its organization (timetables, class assignments, grading, promotion decisions, and more).

These responsibilities are handled by the State School Board for the Rheingau-Taunus District and the State Capital of Wiesbaden. You will find the link to the State School Board at the bottom of this page.

The School Authority of the State Capital of Wiesbaden is responsible for external school affairs, in particular for:

  • the establishment, operation, and closure of schools;
  • determining and modifying the organizational structure of schools;
  • school construction;
  • the furnishing and equipping of school buildings and classrooms;
  • the provision of teaching materials;
  • the establishment of school districts for elementary schools, remedial schools, and vocational schools;
  • the provision of staff for school offices, custodians, lunch programs, and cleaning services at schools;
  • the development of school improvement plans;
  • the organization and financing of student transportation.
