Civic Engagement Week
Under the theme “Shaping the Future Together,” the action week from September 11 to 20 highlights the diversity of civic engagement in Germany.
From September 11 to 20, the 22nd annual nationwide “Week of Civic Engagement” will take place.
The city is looking for organizations and institutions that would like to help shape the week by offering an event. The event should take place within the campaign period. The location, planning, and organization are up to you. We’d love for you to register your event here (opens in a new tab). We’ll include it in the event calendar, which will be published this summer.
Whether it’s cultural events, readings, sports, music, open office hours, or creative formats—anything is possible. You can find inspiration and best practices here (opens in a new tab). Whether it’s a neighborhood festival, a workshop, a club event, or an open house—every event counts.
Anyone planning an event for September can also register it on the Action Week website and become part of the nationwide Engagement Week. Click here to register. (opens in a new tab)
Background
The week is organized by the Federal Network for Civic Engagement (opens in a new tab). The “Engagement macht stark!” campaign aims to highlight and celebrate the diversity and importance of civic engagement. The nationwide Week of Civic Engagement is the centerpiece of the campaign and, with around 20,000 events most recently, is Germany’s largest volunteer initiative.
