Winners of the Europe competition
Wiesbaden residents had until April 30 to submit their photo and their answer to "What does Europe mean to me?" to take part in the Europe competition. You can find out whether you have won here.
1st prize - two InterRail Global Passes - was won by Helena Habermann with her statement:
"For me, Europe means security in crazy times, even when everything is upside down & even when
politicians around the world dare to flip-flop. Europe is a balancing act between freedom &
responsibility. As an acrobat, I am infinitely grateful for the safety net. Europe is a
handstand that only works because we trained together."
2nd prize - two tickets for the Europapark in Rust - was won by Bruno Meyer with his statement:
"For me, Europe means freedom, peace and diversity. The opportunity to travel without borders,
discover new cultures and exchange ideas with people from different countries,
enriches my life immensely. Common values such as democracy, human rights and solidarity
solidarity are the foundation on which our European community is based. I think it is
great that the city of Wiesbaden has embraced these values and can now call itself a European city.
to call itself a European City. It is a sign that Wiesbaden is committed to openness, tolerance and cooperation
cooperation - values that I greatly appreciate."
3rd prize - two train tickets to either Strasbourg or Brussels - was won by Dominik Neu with his statement:
"For me, Europe means freedom. Just like traveling by bike means freedom to me.
for me. Put the two together and you have limitless possibilities and unforgettable adventures in Europe. Last year, my wife and I spent our honeymoon on our bikes, traveling through five European countries and their capitals Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Zagreb and Ljubljana. It was an unbelievably wonderful feeling to cycle across borders with my own muscle power and without controls. I felt more European and freer than ever before!
Our daughter was born this year. As cycling is not yet an option for her
cycling is not yet an option for her, I would like to take her on an Interrail trip and show her
how valuable a Europe with open borders is and what it means to be European."
Congratulations!
