The winners of the Integration Prize of the State Capital of Wiesbaden in previous years are listed in this overview

2024

The winner of the Integration Award of the state capital Wiesbaden in 2024 was the association "Frauenwelten e.V." (opens in a new tab). The jury had a total of five applications and proposals to choose from. The award ceremony took place on November 5 in the town hall. "Frauenwelten e.V." has been volunteering in Wiesbaden since 2016 for women with a history of migration and refugee experience and offers a wide range of culturally sensitive services. The services offered by "Frauenwelten e.V." are a successful example of the importance of empowering women so that not only the women themselves, but also their families, are enabled to organize themselves, integrate and be included in everyday life in Germany and our urban society. As emphasized by Milena Löbcke, Head of Integration, the association impressively supports women with a history of migration and refugee experience in coming to terms with their often traumatic experiences during the migration and refugee process and gaining new strength to face the new challenges of their lives in Wiesbaden.

2023

The 2023 Integration Prize of the state capital Wiesbaden went to the Caritas Ukraine Help Center (opens in a new tab). The jury chose this proposal from ten applications and submissions. The low-threshold advice center started its work in Wiesbaden in spring 2022 and advised more than 800 people last year alone. The outstanding voluntary commitment and full-time support impressed the jury, as did the advice centre's cooperation with numerous agencies and organizations in our city. Cooperation partners include the Jewish community, the Barmer health insurance company, the Hessian State Theater, the KANA youth church and many more. Thanks to this diverse cooperation and low-threshold access, people who have arrived in Wiesbaden and had to leave their homes in Ukraine and the war zone there receive first-class advice and support. In addition to the municipal advice and care services, this help reaches people quickly and effectively.

2022

In 2022, the integration prize of the state capital of Wiesbaden went to the association "wif e.V. - Begegnung und Beratung" (opens in a new tab). The advice and meeting point has been active in Wiesbaden for 15 years now and is involved in a wide range of voluntary activities for women with a history of migration. The award ceremony took place on November 10 in the ballroom of the town hall. During this ceremony, the winner had the opportunity to present their work. wif e.V. promotes low-threshold and sustainable social and psychosocial initiative among women. It is also very important to the creators of the organization to enable women to play an active role in the city - according to the motto: Participate, shape, get involved. For this reason, a joint list was formed for the last election to the Foreigners' Advisory Council, which has been active ever since. In addition, the facility in Rheinstraße also offers a wide range of support services for women refugees from Ukraine, which are very popular.

2021

On October 27, 2021, the Integration Prize of the State Capital of Wiesbaden was awarded for the 16th time. It went to the Wiesbaden actor, speaker and director Armin Nufer (opens in a new tab), who is extraordinarily committed to integration and humanistic values with various projects. Whether as head of German courses for refugees, founder of a discussion group for men with a migration background or organizer of readings as part of "No Limits - experiencing culture together", Nufer and his projects are a successful example of the importance of empowering immigrants to give themselves a voice, become active and thus shape the individual and social integration process. This was also emphasized by Christoph Manjura, Head of the Integration Department.

2020

For the first time in 2020, two winners were nominated for the integration prize of the state capital of Wiesbaden: the network for integration partners "Gemeinsam-in-Wiesbaden" (opens in a new tab) with the project "Netzwerk für Integrationspaten" and the project "NeW - Fachberatungsstelle für traumatisierte geflüchtete Menschen" (opens in a new tab) of the Psychosoziales Zentrum Süd of the Werkgemeinschaft.

Gemeinsam-in-Wiesbaden, "Network for Integration Mentors", is an association of network and cooperation partners that supports volunteers who accompany immigrants, especially refugees, in order to support the integration process. The network also supports tandem programs that give refugees the opportunity to get to know the culture of the other side.

The specialist counselling centre for traumatized refugees NeW "Neue Wege in Wiesbaden" from Werkgemeinschaft e.V. fulfils a very important function in the integration process. Through counselling, stabilization and intercultural understanding, NeW enables people to gain a foothold in their new home and lead a self-determined life.

The state capital of Wiesbaden awarded the Integration Prize for the thirteenth time in 2019. It went to the "Learning to swim for refugees" project. It was awarded on November 13, 2019 in the town hall.

Of the seven applications and proposals received, the jury chose this project, which has been successfully implemented by a joint initiative of various project partners under the leadership of the BauHof district office since 2013. As part of a cross-agency network with the active involvement of pupils from the Wilhelm-Heinrich-von-Riehl School, trainees and the voluntary participation of Germans and non-Germans, intercultural coexistence in the district is being strengthened.

2016

The "Wiesbaden - German lessons for refugees" project run by the "Old Tablers 18" association was the winner of the 2016 Integration Award.

The award-winning project is dedicated to the linguistic, social and professional integration of refugees in the ongoing asylum process. In addition to attending a German course, the project participants are also accompanied and supported in their integration efforts by the members of "Old Tablers 18" and their friends and families outside of the language course, thus setting the initial course for the participants' professional integration. Through lectures, the new immigrants also receive information on topics such as healthcare, politics, education, history and geography in Germany. The "Old Tablers 18" see helping the refugees to help themselves as the primary goal of their project.

2014

The multicultural district newspaper "Mensch!Westend!" was the winner of the 2014 Integration Award.

"Mensch!Westend" is distributed once a month to the residents of the Wiesbaden district and is delivered free of charge to around 13,000 households there. There are also distribution points inside and outside the Westend. Readers with a migration background, who are the main focus of the newspaper, are also to be won over as contributors to the paper. This is why they are specifically included in the reporting. At least half of the articles deal with their topics, problems and celebrations. However, "Mensch!Westend" does not see itself as a newspaper for migrants, but for a district with many migrants: People should find out more about themselves and their neighborhood.

2013

The Lions Club Wiesbaden-Neroberg's "Language builds bridges" project won the 2013 award.

In the "Language builds bridges" project, which is run under the auspices of the Lions Club Wiesbaden-Neroberg, young people from Wiesbaden's upper secondary schools and the University of Applied Sciences are trained as tutors. They work as partners - not as tutors - with four to ten-year-old children who have difficulties with the German language. The learning partners meet once or twice a week in the children's homes. This gives them the best opportunity to get to know and understand each other. Each young tutor is supported by an adult mentor from the Lions Club, who has an advisory role for the tutor and the child or family. This creates an exchange between three generations. Everyone can learn and benefit from this.

The "Together in Wiesbaden" project of the "Landsmannschaft der Deutschen aus Russland e. V." association was the 2012 award winner.

The Landsmannschaft der Deutschen aus Russland e. V. is primarily committed to the integration of German ethnic German repatriates from Russia into the everyday life and culture of Wiesbaden. In 2009, musician Gert Zimanowski founded the "European Children Orchestra" with 24 children from a fourth grade class at the Goethe School. As part of this project, the children learned to play the drums, write poems and practise rhythmic speaking. The project was particularly interested in working with the pupils and linking language and music. In the "Talktone" method developed by Mr. Zimanowski, music was created from the children's different languages. In 2010, the project was carried out once again at the Goethe School with a different focus.
