Integration Award
Against the backdrop of social challenges, it is important for the state capital to recognize outstanding commitment to the topic of integration. This year, the award goes to the Somali Culture and Education Initiative (SKB e. V.).
SKB e. V. has been volunteering for the Somali community in Wiesbaden since the beginning of 2024 and offers a wide range of educational opportunities, advice on social issues and cultural events. With regularly organized Somali cultural events, the association creates a platform for intercultural exchange. Whether art, music, dance, literature or culinary experiences - the events offer people from different backgrounds the opportunity to get to know the traditions and values of the Somali community. In this way, SKB e. V. helps to break down prejudices and strengthen mutual understanding.
The initiative shows how important it is to celebrate cultural diversity and promote integration at the same time.
The Somalische Kultur- und Bildungsinitiative e. V. (SKB e. V.) receives the Integration Award 2025 of the state capital Wiesbaden. The decision was made by a jury that reviewed a total of six applications and proposals.
In addition to cultural initiatives, the association also offers educational programs that are specifically tailored to the needs of the Somali community. These include language courses in Somali and German, tutoring and experiential education events for children and young people, as well as educational counseling for families. These programs facilitate access to education, promote educational and professional development and support integration into society.
Award ceremony
The award ceremony by Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende will take place on Tuesday, October 28, at 6 p.m. in the town hall. The award winner will have the opportunity to present their work at this ceremony.
