Youth Vocational Assistance Center
The Youth Vocational Assistance Office sees itself as a kind of "think tank" for the municipal support landscape in the school-to-work transition system in the state capital of Wiesbaden.
Youth vocational assistance includes socio-educational support services for young people who face particular hurdles and obstacles on their path to vocational training.
In order to check whether the existing services are reaching their target groups, whether qualitative or quantitative changes are needed or whether there are new target groups, the Youth Vocational Assistance Unit (Fachstelle JBH) analyzes the school-to-work transition system in Wiesbaden. Through this analysis and regular monitoring, the JBH specialist unit obtains meaningful data in the field of school-to-work transition. This enables it to provide advice to the municipal offices of the social services department of the state capital of Wiesbaden and identify "gaps" and solutions in the support system at an early stage.
To ensure that this is achieved in a comprehensive and practice-oriented manner, the providers of youth career assistance services in the transition from school to work meet regularly in the "Youth Career Assistance Working Group" under the direction of the JBH specialist unit. Here they exchange experiences, discuss current developments and review the suitability and target achievement of their services.
The JBH specialist unit is integrated into the "Transition from school to work for young refugees" working group with various stakeholders in youth vocational assistance (including, for example, school social work in intensive German classes).
The JBH specialist unit is made up of the specialist departments
- Policy and planning
- Youth school social work (both in the Office for Social Work)
and the - Municipal Job Center - Youth Case Management in the Social Benefits and Job Center
together.
The steering group for managing the JBH specialist unit is drawn from these three specialist departments. The steering group meets approximately every six to eight weeks to exchange information. It is supported by the Department of Economics and Employment in Department IV, which takes part in the joint coordination meetings.
Thanks to its structure and good networking, the JBH specialist unit is able to evaluate the various services and support measures, consolidate successful concepts for the target group of youth employment assistance and provide important impetus for future developments and directions.
