Health is created and lived by people in their everyday environment: where they play, learn, work and love (cf. WHO Ottawa Charter) - all these aspects are influenced by the urban structure and institutions. For this reason, the "Municipal Health Promotion" department was founded over 20 years ago, which is responsible for urban prevention and education campaigns, initiates projects and is the point of contact for setting-related measures. As a department of the specialist department, the staff unit gains a helpful insight into various areas and thus recognizes where the needs lie in the city.

The primary goal is to improve the health opportunities of the Wiesbaden population. At various events, such as the Hessian Health Days, the Patient Day or Understandable Medicine, citizens can obtain information on a wide range of topics free of charge and talk to self-help groups, doctors or institutions. Special events and health campaigns planned and implemented by the Municipal Health Promotion Department draw attention to various social issues such as organ donation, vaccination and preventative care.

The "UnternehmerForum Gesundheit" event, which is organized jointly with the city's personnel department, offers Wiesbaden's entrepreneurs the opportunity to find out about health-promoting measures in the workplace that benefit employees. Information brochures or projects directly in individual districts or schools supplement the offer.
